Paul F. Nemitz is a leading EU policy architect, formerly Principal Advisor on Justice & Digitalization at the European Commission (DG Justice), where he spearheaded the GDPR, Whistleblower Directive, EU-US Privacy Shield, and EU Code against Online Hate Speech. He also led the Commission’s “Snowden” response and litigated key cases before EU Courts. With roles in DG Trade, Transport, and Legal Service, Nemitz shaped EU law, democracy, and AI governance. A prolific author on data protection and digital rights, he now chairs the Arthur Langerman Foundation (TU Berlin) and serves on boards including Leo Baeck Institute (NYC), SPD’s Media Committee (Berlin), and Archivum Apertum Foundation. He is European Ambassador for the Boston Global Forum and Honorary Representative of Hamburg to Italy/Vatican.
